A mishmash of wanderers, ponderers and unbridled creatives. Or, to be marginally more precise, we’re a shapeshifting collective of writers, photographers and consultants bound together by our two founders, Louis A. W. Sheridan and Harriet Charnock-Bates. Hailing from the countryside and now based in West London, our network is global, our processes supremely fluid, and our days are seldom the same.
Whether we’re pulling out all the stops to get grand dames Instagram-ready, or squeezing horsepower out of electric cars on camera, we’ve always got an eye on the horizon - that way we’re leading the pack, and never following.
We’ve worked with the world’s leading travel brands to offer unmatched insight, genuine creativity and support that simply can’t be cloned. While the scale might differ, the tack we take with fresh-out-of-the-gate businesses is the very same one we apply to great, time-tested empires.
It’s been a long trip. D&E first touched down in 2014, and back then our sights were firmly set on publishing. Our original editorial platform saw an assemblage of the globe’s foremost actors, musicians and designers share their tips, tales and creations in a space that focussed on the world through a travel lens. We curated ahead-of-the-curve travel guides, commissioned boundary-pushing editorials and shaped the way word-of-mouth recommendations went digital.
Behind the scenes, we forged the very first bridges between influencers and unforgettable boutique stays, charting a now well-trodden course that was previously non-existent. We consulted on both sides, re-imagining hotel branding for the social-savvy age and realigning the storytelling of a burgeoning Insta-generation.
The savviest of shamans couldn’t have called what would happen next; Instagram took off. Every industry has felt the seismic shift, but in travel, the landscape didn’t simply change, it crumbled. Our to-do lists rapidly filled to the brim with rebranding projects, social-first shoots, and ground-up creative overhauls - we were primed and ready to catch the wave before it broke. Of course, it still hasn’t.
In more recent years, our day-to-day has come to rest client-side. We build brands, tell stories and make sure it all looks bloody good while it unfolds. Between us we’ve bedded down in thousands of boutique beds, dozed off during hundreds of mind-mellowing massages, and exhausted our laptop batteries in every airport from here to Houston.
We’ve been global since the get-go and as the world continues to shrink, the industry charges ahead with ceaseless evolution. There are perks and pitfalls as with any great era of change, but we’re more confident than ever in the ability of spellbinding stories, first-rate visuals and honest human interaction to transcend both language and culture.
